How was your SBI PO interview experience?

Actual interview time: 4:30 PM
Location : Local Head Office, Patna
Total interview time: Around 20–25 minutes perhaps.
The interview panel consisted of total 4 members, 3 male and 1 female.
After document verification and lunch I was waiting outside the interview room, was feeling little nervous and excited at the same time.
Bell rings and then finally comes my turn.
Opened the door, there was a graceful lady i saw first, so:-
How was your SBI PO interview experience?

Me: May I please come in Ma'am?
She: Yes please come in.
Me: Good afternoon ma'am, good afternoon sirs.
I1: Good afternoon, please take your seat.
Me: Thankyou sir!
I1 : What is your name?
Me : Sir, my name is Piyush Jha.
I1: Where is your hometown?
Me: Sir, my hometown is Madhubani but...(someone interrupted so I stopped)
I1 : But?
Me: Sir I was born in Madhubani, Bihar but brought up in Kohima, the capital of Nagaland.
I1: How comes Nagaland?
Me: My parents work there, and so that's where me and my siblings were brought up and did our schooling.
I1: What does your parents do?
Me: Sir, My dad is a chemistry lecturer and my mom, she is a school teacher.
I1 : Piyush, can you list me some historical places in Bihar?
Me: Sure sir, there are plenty of historical places in Bihar. There's ruins of Nalanda University. There's Gaya, where Gautam Budhh was enlightened beneath a tree. Jain tirthankar Lord mahaveer was born in Vaishali. Patna was known as Patliputra in ancient times and it used to be the administrative and power centre of the vast Magadh empire. There's patna sahib here and it's the birthplace of Sikh guru Govind Singh. And then we have Ahilya Devi sthan in darbhanga. And that's all I can remember as of now sir.
I1: (curiously) What's Ahilya Devi sthan?
Me: Sir, Ahilya Devi sthan is related to Ramayana.
I1 : Where did you do your engineering, and from which branch?
Me : said.
I1: What is Artificial Intelligence? (As my branch was Computer science.)
Me: Explained
I1 : Do you have any work experience?
Me: No sir, I don't have any work experience. I graduated in 2020 itself and since then I have been preparing for banking exams.
I1: You didn't land any job after engineering?
Me: Sir, i did land a job in Tata Consultancy Services through campus placement.
I1: So why didn't you join?
Me: I got very late joining sir, in the month of February, and I got Kolkata as my base location but by that time I was completely immersed into banking exams and my IBPS PO mains date was clashing with the joining date. So had to reschedule my joining date.
I1 : So that TCS option is still there right?
Me: Yes sir!
I1 : Good good! (and then he hinted the next panel member to continue)

I2: So Piyush, you came from madhubani?
Me: No sir, since last one year I am staying in Darbhanga with my elder brother.
I2: What does he do?
Me: He is currently working in Axis bank sir.
I2: Who is the head of Axis bank?
Me : said
I2: Okay Piyush, can you tell me what is SARFAESI Act? And it's full form?
Me: Started with the full form and then explained the act.
I2: Great! Quite a big name right? Don't you think it could be little short? (Laughing all the while)
Me : Yes sir, indeed it's a big name.
I2: Can you tell me what is the difference between Gross NPA and Net NPA?
Me: said.
I2: What is provisioning? ( As I had mentioned this term in my previous answer?)
Me : said. ( He looked satisfied)
I2: So Piyush, you are from Computer science background, have a job offer and moreover engineers from other branches are trying to make a career in IT, yet you choose banking, why so?
Me: Sir, I feel banking is a very lucrative career and moreover working in SBI has its on plus points, one gets the experience of true India from the experience of rural area to middle tier city to executive level experience. It has everything.
Moreover i will get the opportunity to serve people directly with wonderful exposure, no doubt SBI is bankers to every Indian!
I2: smiling.
<Then I1 interrupted and discussed about how many bankers in their rural posting commute from near by city, maybe I will do the same, how would I get real rural experience doing so?>
I3: I have a lots of friend in Kohima, from where did you do your schooling?
Me: said.
I3: What's the reason behind insurgency in Nagaland and what's your view on this whole issue.
Me: "Explained everything briefly and concluded positively."
I3: Did you ever face any issue in Kohima?
Me: Explained how i personally never did, but my dad did once (around 20-21 years back), and since then everything has been fine and blissful.
I1: How are the people of Nagaland?
Me: They are wonderful and warm people sir. (Said spontaneously with a smile)
I1: Tell me the first five circle you listed in your preference?
Me: said
I1: Why Delhi at first? Any specific reason?
Me: Explained!
I1: Okay final question, will you be comfortable with posting at any place? From Jammu and Kashmir to kerala anywhere?
Me: Yes sir, throughout my life I have been at different places at different point of my life. I was born in a village in Bihar, brought up in Kohima, Nagaland. I went to Kota for a year, then did my engineering in Bhopal and since last one year I am staying in Darbhanga.
I1: Okay thankyou, you may leave now!
Me: Thankyou so much sir, it was a great experience.
Then I walked away towards the door then turned around wished the panel a good day ahead and left.
<All the while the lady kept on smiling and observing me and my body language>
After I left the premise I got a call from my friend, she asked me about my interview and only then I realised not once I got stucked in between and luckily I answered all the questions. Indeed the interview went smooth. I was happy and expecting for the best.
Interview score: 50/50!
Final result: Selected in merit list and joined as a Probationary Officer in State Bank of India.
As an advice to all aspirants all I can say is stay humble, stay spontaneous, be a little confident and smile a bit. It does wonders!
